Hiring Incentives

Employee Training & Education

On-the-job training, including learning new skills from skilled journeypersons, for people who want to work in a skilled trade or occupation. Contact this office to register an apprentice.

 

Get involved in one of these exciting trades education programs:

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) – school-to-work transition program for full-time high school students 16 years and over entering Grade 11, offered through Ontario secondary schools. Employers offer on the job experience through co-op placements.

Co-op Diploma Apprenticeship Program - combines a college diploma program and apprenticeship training leading to a Certificate of Qualification. Employers offer on the job experience through co-op placements.

 

Business and sector programs:

Apprenticeship Tax Training Credit (ATTC) – refundable tax credit for corporations and unincorporated businesses employing apprentices in certain skilled trades during the first 36 months of an apprenticeship program

Employer Signing Bonus - assist employers to hire and register youth under 25 years of age who have left school and require upgrading to meet the registration standards for apprenticeship training. Bonus will be delivered in two equal installments over six months.
